1971 BMW 3.0 CS

This is a stunning example of BMW's most iconic body style - the famous E9.  Coveted by BMW aficianados, these cars are escalating in value at a tremendous rate.  But only the good ones - and this fully restored 4-speed manual example is certainly in that category.

In 2000, this car went through a ground up restoration, and we have the full sheet numbering a staggering 205 individual items.  The E9 is largely infamous for suffering from rust issues (especially in the shock towers).  We can report that this car has none of this.  The restoration alone was over 450 hours in labor, excluding all the parts.  Looking through the files, and totaling all the labor and parts that were involved in this car's restoration, we would estimate that this is a $100,000 build.  Since the major restoration in 2000, the car continued to be improved upon, and in 2006 another 125 hours of labor was invested in the car, as well as in excess of $3000 in parts, (mechanical and cosmetic) to bring the car to its stunning current state.

There is too much in the large file to note, but of importance:
80% of the restoration was on the car's structural integrity and on cosmetics.
All rust was removed, all panels replaced, seals are new, interior refurbished, wood treated, leather refurbished, chrome completely re-chromed, window motors restored, Carpets sourced.
The car now sits on a set of hard to find Alpina type 32 16" 18-spoke wheels, fully sand-blasted, and powder coated in a tasteful aluminum finish.
The car has a new dash, freshly chromed Euro style flush fitting bumpers, new Bridgestone Potenza's with plenty of life left, new window seals to compliment the "Pillarless" monica.

The engine was removed during the car's restoration and the following was done:
New hoses, new filters, evap lines, Webber down draft carbs, new fuel lines, engine mounts, the entire electrical systme has been upgraded, main harness has been upgraded, clutch slave cylinder, all brake hoses, brake pads, and new springs.

This has been a 20 year constant work in progress and now that the car is finished is must be one of the best 3.0CS coupes in existence.  There are few left in this condition.
The car is close to concours condition, without a doubt, and it's originality puts it firmly into the Concours class.

This is a true investment opportunity to acquire a classic, beatifully restored, and period correct BMW E9.
